Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! – Rocky Balboa

Dave doesn’t like to write bios and would rather be working out in the mornings and teaching classes at night. He has spearheaded the Bull Run Teens Program which has had amazing growth and shows how hard work and discipline can be taught to kids.
His background in athletics was somewhat limited before coming to Raise the Bar given his intense work schedule but is now CrossFit certified and teaching regularly while also giving his fellow athletes a run for their money in the daily workouts.

Growing up, Brian played basketball and ran track. Weight lifting, plyometrics, and calisthenics have been major components of his training for both of those sports. He was a leader and captain and in addition to coaching those sports he was a snowboard instructor in New Hampshire for a season. In addition he also enjoys rock climbing, yoga, running, wakeboarding, classic cars and boating.
The athletes that show up to Raise the Bar never fail to impress me with their drive and determination. The more you throw at them the harder they push and that is inspirational to me. Helping these athletes push past their own limits motivates me to continue to push past mine.
CrossFit Coach (CF L1)
Rachel loves late 90s hip hop, anything with champagne, and Disney movies! You’ll often find her singing along (and sometimes dancing) to the music while at the gym. She was an elementary PE teacher until her daughter was born in 2007. She then realized she wanted to be home with her children and became a stay at home mom. Having always loved helping others become healthy, fit and confident; she found her perfect job of coaching group fitness and became AFAA certified in 2009. This portable career has been perfect for their many moves around the country (thank you, Marine Corps!) and allowed her to stay home with her children. In 2015, Rachel got her Crossfit Level 1 after Crossfit showed her the strength of her body. Helping others find their confidence through their strength and through their health is her true passion.
Take care of yourself, and then you can take care of others.

Some folks spend a good amount of time and energy trying to figure out purpose in life. Frank feels fortunate to have found his purpose in using his gifts and talents in the world of fitness and specifically through CrossFit. Sports and fitness have always been an integral part of his life. Aside from being an avid fan of sports in general, (tragically he’s a Cleveland Browns fan) he’s also a collegiate track athlete from YSU where he also was an Assistant track coach.
After moving to Virginia, Frank devoted himself to a life of Christian ministry. He got AFFA certified in 2010 and used his certification to serve communities through fitness during his spare time. He eventually found CrossFit at Bull Run in 2012, and after completing his first WOD “Whitten” he was hooked! Frank received his CF-L1 in 2014 and also his CF Kids Cert in 2015. The challenging and intense workouts, combined with a strong community atmosphere is something that motivates him. He loves inviting folks to try CrossFit and actively participates in Faith Rx every month

Vint Hill Boot Camp Coach
For many years, fitness and the outdoors (camping, hiking, kayaking) have been an important part of my life. At first, I worked out at home with books and videos, then spent 12 years training in Kenpo Karate as a student and instructor. The physical challenges, the excitement of competition, and camaraderie all made for a memorable experience. During this time, I created and taught a class that combined cardio and karate moves (Karatecise). In 2012 I discovered outdoor boot camp training, which was an excellent way to train for Spartan races. As a member of RTB since 2013, I am continually inspired by the talent, heart, and dedication of our trainers. I am excited for the opportunity to be a trainer for Vint Hill Boot Camp, RTB’s outdoor fitness group.
Born and raised in Union City NJ, moved to VA in 1999 to start a career in Law Enforcement. Currently a Lieutenant in a Northern Va agency. I have 23 yrs studying various martial arts to include; Hopkido, Kung-Fu, Sayok-Kali and currently American Kenpo Karate and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I am a DCJS Certified Defensive Tactics Instructor, Straight Baton / ASP Instructor and a Taser Instructor.
“I am not afraid of a person who knows 10,000 kicks. But I am afraid of a person who knows one kick but practices it 10,000 times.”
