When did you join Raise the Bar?

I joined with friends for a 6 week challenge that began May 30, 2017.

Did you have any past fitness experience before RtB?

I was active for years when I did weightlifting, however I became stagnant and lost motivation over time.  For the past few years, truly the most activity I had was racing to Krispy Kreme when I saw the “Hot” sign on.

Describe what made you decide to walk in the door the first time.

Really, I walked past the mirror and screamed because I thought someone else was in the house with me.  I literally did not recognize the person in the mirror looking back at me.

How has the gym impacted you personally and/or professionally?

I have become more involved in the activities with my son and husband.  It is great to get out and walk trails with them and not behind or pulling up the rear due my inability to keep up.  I began doing things such as ziplining, and attempting to rock climb.  Sharing in these activities with my family has been a joy and my new fitness level has allowed for us to do more activities together.

What do you believe sets RtB apart from other gyms?

I feel welcomed and at home in this gym.  Everyone is encouraging, kind and supportive.  Other gyms you walk in everyone is to themselves with headphones on and you feel alone, I never feel like I am going to have that experience.  In Raise the Bar, everyone in the gym welcomes you upon entering inside, you are greeted by others with a smile like they are truly happy to see you.

What is RtB’s community like?

The community is like a great friendship, it feels like home!

What have you learned from your experience with RtB?

I have learned that no matter what your fitness level is, trying new things is better that sitting on the wall watching.

Lastly, what piece of advice would you have for someone just beginning their fitness journey?

In the end, your fitness journey should be all about feeling, looking and living a better life.  It will never happen if you keep putting off starting until next Monday or the Monday after.  Start today, work for tomorrow and watch each day become easier as you continue on your journey.
