This is a thought-piece intended to inspire you to research and understand the implications of our reliance on industrial agriculture and technology as it pertains to your health and longevity.

If you could look into the future 10, 20, even 30 years to what lies ahead for your health and the health of your children, do you think you would be optimistic or fearful of what you might see?

What if you saw a life threatening illness for you or your spouse? What if you saw your kids with autism? Behavioral disorders? Obesity? Chronic allergies?

Imagine the suffering, the tears, and the financial impact of what a life intertwined with biotechnology can mean for you and your family. A life that many adults in the U.S. are quick to turn an ignorant eye to or completely dismiss because of the opinion of the family medical practitioner.

Akin to the tobacco industry and the decades of death dealt by their end product, the culpability of lobbyists, and the obfuscation of cause and effect. We are living in perilous times where the power of industrial agriculture and the drug industry has influence and reach that are protected at the highest levels of our government.

Consumers make choices because they are largely unaware, either consciously or unconsciously, of the risks associated with those choices. At worst the consumer has heard the truth but has chosen to disregard it because of either convenience or complacency.

Consuming food chemicals, genetically modified foods, growth hormones, and processed foods regularly and with little regard to any long-term implications is parallel to the social acceptance and carefree smoking mindset of the 1960’s & 70’s.

Unlike the simply explained and common sense association between smoking and lung cancer, however, the long-term effects of industrial agriculture, processed foods, and the drug industry are yet to be truly understood.

You are the last line of defense. The power you wield as a consumer is one of choice. A choice that understands potential outcomes based not only on the limited science that has been made available to the public but that of common sense.

Imagine again your future. A future that has been forever changed because you educated yourself on the risks associated with the following hot topic foods & drugs:

  • Diet Soda (aspartame, sucralose)
  • Dairy (bovine growth hormone, antibiotics, GMOs)
  • Processed meats (sodium nitrites, PAHs)
  • Processed foods (trans fats, MSG, artificial flavor, artificial color, high fructose corn syrup, and preservatives)
  • Statin drugs
  • HPV Vaccine
  • Vaccines & autism
  • Antibiotics

I’ve intentionally left out specific resources to accompany this post to avoid the combative ambivalence that accompanies a challenge to what families can afford to feed their families as well as the debates surrounding the vaccination protocols for kids.

Do your research. Follow the money.

If you’re trusting in government regulation and the law of man to serve the greater good you are, unfortunately, contributing to the health crisis by way of your naiveté.
